photography.

Photography plays a significant role in my architectural studies, and my fifth-year focus has further deepened my connection to the craft. I often feel a personal connection to the land and people I photograph, particularly when capturing scenes reminiscent of those in the Hebrides, where my family has a long history of photographing the landscape. This connection has shaped how I view and capture architecture, encouraging me to look for moments that are often overlooked at first glance—whether it’s the interaction of light and texture or the subtle patterns that emerge in nature and the built environment.

I am always searching for interesting patterns and details that might escape the attention of others. Photography allows me to pause and observe, revealing the hidden beauty and intricacies of the world around me, which in turn informs my architectural thinking. This process deepens my appreciation for composition, texture, and light, while also connecting me to a broader tradition of visual storytelling in my family’s legacy.
