housing | for young professionals.

Set in central Glasgow, this housing proposal responds to the needs of young professionals, aiming to reduce carbon emissions and foster a sense of community. By addressing urban loneliness, the design creates a safe and engaging living environment, balancing privacy and social interaction.

The building form is shaped by existing street patterns, ensuring seamless integration into the urban fabric while preserving sightlines and openness. A central courtyard, accessible from all dwellings, serves as a quiet retreat from the busy surroundings, promoting resident interaction.

The southern façade features private balconies, communal terraces, and green spaces, enhancing natural light, outdoor connections, and well-being. Flexible live/work spaces cater to modern lifestyles, allowing for a balanced work-home environment.

A combination of hand-drawn and digital techniques effectively showcases the design, emphasising its contextual sensitivity, spatial hierarchy, and focus on community living. The project ultimately offers a sustainable and connected urban housing solution, designed to support both individual well-being and collective engagement.
